DC Charging System for New Energy Vehicles

DC charging means that the voltage input from the external power grid to the vehicle is DC, that is, the DC Charging station converts 380V AC Three-phase electric power into DC, and then transmits it to the vehicle through the standard DC charging plug and charging socket to directly charge the power battery to complete the basic DC charging.

DC charging components mainly include DC charging socket (DC charging socket harness), vehicle controller (VCU, BMS), DC Charging station, etc.
The DC charging socket is fixed on the vehicle, directly connected to the power battery, and the DC Charging station is fixed in the parking lot. The functions of each component are as follows:

(1) The DC charging socket is a national standard component that connects vehicles to the external power grid. It has 1 CAN communication circuit (2 interfaces), 1 low-voltage auxiliary power supply circuit (2 interfaces), 2 signal circuits, 1 grounding circuit, and 1 positive and 1 negative high-voltage circuit, totaling 9 interfaces.

(2) The vehicle controller is to monitor the vehicle status in real time, and according to the protocol format and content of the national standard GB/T 27930-2015 Communication Protocol between Off board Conductive Charger and Battery management system of Electric Vehicles, send control commands to the DC Charging station to make it work or stop working, control its output current and voltage, etc. It is the control brain of vehicle charging.

(3) The DC Charging station is a high-power off board charger, which converts 380V AC into DC, and then directly charges the power battery through the standard charging plug and charging socket. Its working power is generally high, thus greatly shortening the charging time.
