Working principle of Different Motors
May 25, 2023
The direction of rotation of the motor depends on the direction of the current in the coil, as the direction of the current in the coil affects the direction of the magnetic field and thus the direction of the influence. When the motor is running, due to the alternating current, the magnetic field in the coil will also alternate and reverse, causing the direction of rotation of the motor to constantly change, thereby causing the motor to rotate.
This is a simple description of the working principle of electric motors. Different types of motors have different working principles and designs, but their basic principle is to use the interaction of magnetic fields to rotate the rotor.
For DC motors, their working principle is based on the action of Lorentz force. When a certain current passes through the armature winding of a motor, a magnetic field is generated within the armature. At the same time, the current passing through the armature will also interact with the magnetic field inside the armature, generating a torque that causes the motor to rotate.
For AC motor, its working principle is based on the role of rotating magnetic field. When the current of AC power supply passes through the stator winding of the motor, a rotating magnetic field will be generated in the stator. Because the rotor of the motor contains conductors, the conductors in the rotor will generate induced electromotive force under the action of the rotating magnetic field, thus making the rotor rotate. At the same time, the conductors inside the rotor also generate a reverse electromotive force, which counteracts the power supply to the motor and enables it to operate stably.
In short, different types of motors have different working principles, but their basic principles are based on the principle of electromagnetism, that is, through the interaction between magnetic field and current, torque is generated to drive the motor.
An electric motor is a device that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. The working principle of an electric motor is based on Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction, which states that when a conductor moves in a magnetic field, it generates an electromotive force. In an electric motor, the conductor usually moves through an electric current in a magnetic field, which generates torque and causes the machine to rotate.
