Characteristics of Permanent Magnet DC Motor

The permanent magnet brushless DC motor is a DC motor with one or more permanent magnets to establish the magnetic field. Its performance is similar to that of the separately excited DC motor with constant excitation current. It can be adjusted conveniently by changing the armature voltage. Compared with separately excited DC motor, it has the advantages of small size, high efficiency, simple structure and less copper consumption, and is the main type of small power DC motor.

Attention shall be paid to the following when applying permanent magnet DC motor:

1. If the product has no special instructions, it is generally not allowed to reverse the braking operation under the rated voltage, otherwise the permanent magnet will be demagnetized; If it is really necessary to operate in this way, a current-limiting resistor shall be added to limit excessive current.
 

2. Perform preliminary inspection on the motor according to the following steps:

First, check the appearance of the motor: there should be no scratches, bruises and peeling of the coating;

Then rotate the rotating shaft, which should be able to rotate flexibly without obvious jamming.

Check whether the wiring of the motor is firm and powered on for operation.

There should be no friction during the rotation of the motor, and the most prominent one is the bearing friction. After the bearing is worn, it will emit abnormal sound and local overheating and temperature rise will occur.
 

3. Pay attention to the demagnetization of permanent magnet caused by excessive current, temperature change and open circuit of magnetic circuit during disassembly and assembly of the motor. Especially for Al-Ni-Co permanent magnet motor, the magnetic circuit of permanent magnet shall be subject to magnetic short circuit protection during disassembly and assembly, otherwise additional magnetization shall be conducted after demagnetization.
