The Working Principle of Asynchronous Motors
Jul 11, 2024
Due to the continuous cutting of closed conductors in the rotor by the rotating magnetic field, induced electromotive force and induced current are generated. Then, the interaction between the induced current in the rotor and the rotating magnetic field generates electromagnetic torque, causing the rotor to rotate in the same direction as the rotating magnetic field. For example, in a cage type asynchronous motor, the rotating magnetic field cuts the rotor conductor clockwise, which is equivalent to the conductor rotating counterclockwise.
Using the right-hand rule, let the magnetic induction line pass vertically through the palm of the hand, with the thumb pointing in the direction of the conductor's movement and the four fingers pointing in the direction of the induced current Then, using the left-hand rule, the magnetic induction line passes through the palm of the hand, with the four fingers pointing towards the direction of current movement. The thumb direction is the direction in which the rotor is subjected to electromagnetic force (as shown in the electromagnetic torque T direction). Under the action of electromagnetic force, electromagnetic torque is formed, dragging the rotor to rotate in the direction of the rotating magnetic field.
Sectional view of cage asynchronous motor

In asynchronous motors, in order to maintain a rotating magnetic field that always cuts the rotor conductor and generates induced current, the rotor speed is lower than the speed of the rotating magnetic field.
The main classification and application of asynchronous motors Asynchronous motors are the most commonly used types of motors in industry and agriculture, with capacities ranging from tens of watts to thousands of kilowatts, and are widely used in various industries of the national economy.
For example, in the industrial sector, small and medium-sized steel rolling equipment, various metal cutting machines, light industrial machinery, hoists and ventilators in mines, etc. are all driven by asynchronous motors.
In agriculture, pumps, threshers, crushers, and other agricultural and sideline product processing machinery are also driven by asynchronous motors.
Zhejiang Fangyuan Sifu Mechanical And Electrical Co., Ltd. has advanced research and development equipment and manufacturing equipment, advanced motor type laboratory and fan testing laboratory. The motor type laboratory can measure 0.06kW-315kW three-phase asynchronous motors, single-phase asynchronous motors and permanent magnet variable frequency servo motors. The wind chamber laboratory can detect various types of fans with an air volume below 50,000m3.
