What Should I do if the Motor is Flooded, Can it Still be Used?

Sep 05, 2021

There are many types of mechanization in social production. As long as the motor enters the water, it will not be damaged due to water ingress, but the degree of insulation of the motor will be greatly reduced.

No matter what kind of motor is flooded with water, the maintenance process is generally similar. That is, disassemble the motor and dry it. Take a three-phase asynchronous motor as an example: if the motor is soaked in floods for many days, it is likely that a large amount of sediment will enter the motor casing. When repairing, open the motor and pull out the rotor. secondary damage. After rinsing, first use the 1K or 10K multimeter to measure the ground insulation and phase-to-phase insulation. At this time, do not use the shaker to measure, because a 500-megaohm shaker will output a DC voltage of 500, which is likely to shock. The winding insulation of the motor that penetrates into the water makes it worse. Regardless of the insulation level, it should be abandoned.

The water inlet motor needs to be dried, and there are various drying methods, such as a hot air blower, a light cannon, or drying in the summer sun. Of course, it is better to use a dryer. However, the temperature should not be too high, and the temperature is generally maintained at around 60. After confirming drying, use a 500-volt shaker to measure the insulation degree between the ground and the phases. If the insulation degree between the ground and the phase reaches more than 0.5 megohm, the motor can be put into use, and if it is less than 0.5 megohm, it cannot be put into use.
