Design Objectives of DC Motor Drive Circuit

In the design of DC motor drive circuits, the following points are mainly considered:
Function: Does the motor rotate in one direction or two directions? Do you need to adjust the speed? For unidirectional motor drive, simply use a high-power transistor or field-effect transistor or relay to directly drive the motor. When the motor needs to rotate in both directions, an H-bridge circuit composed of four power components or a double pole double throw relay can be used. If speed regulation is not required, just use a relay; But if speed regulation is required, switching elements such as transistors and field-effect transistors can be used to achieve PWM (pulse width modulation) speed regulation.
Performance: For the motor drive circuit of PWM speed regulation, there are mainly the following performance indicators:
1.The output current and voltage range determine how much power the circuit can drive the motor.
2. Efficiency, high efficiency not only means saving power, but also reduces the heating of the driving circuit. To improve the efficiency of the circuit, one can start by ensuring the switching state of the power device and preventing common state conduction (a possible problem in H-bridge or push-pull circuits, where two power devices conduct simultaneously and cause a short circuit in the power supply).
3. The impact on the control input. The power circuit should have good signal isolation at its input end to prevent high voltage and current from entering the main control circuit. This can be achieved through high input impedance or optocoupler isolation.
4. Impact on power supply. Common state conduction can cause an instantaneous drop in power supply voltage, resulting in high-frequency power pollution; A large current may cause the ground wire potential to fluctuate.
5. Reliability. The motor drive circuit should be as safe as possible, no matter what control signal or passive load is added.
